The Lysskjul website sets no cookies. It stores one small setting in your browser, and only if you use the footer menu on a small screen. This page explains what that setting is, why there is no cookie banner, and what you can do to remove it.
1. Cookies and browser storage
Cookies are small text files that a website asks your browser to keep, so that it can recognise the browser on a later visit. Browsers also offer other kinds of storage, such as local storage, which websites can use in a similar way. The law treats them alike: under the cookie rules in the Norwegian Electronic Communications Act (ekomloven) and Article 5(3) of the EU ePrivacy Directive, a website may store information on your device, or read it from your device, only with your consent, unless the storage is strictly necessary to provide something you have asked for.
Most websites use cookies and similar storage for analytics, advertising and tracking across sites. This one does not.
2. What this website stores
There is exactly one item:
- Name
lysskjul-footer-accordion- Type
- Local storage, for this website only. Not a cookie.
- What it does
- Remembers which footer sections (Explore, Legal, Stay in touch) you opened or closed, so that they stay that way on the next page.
- When it is set
- Only on screens narrower than 768 pixels, and only after you tap one of those footer sections.
- How long it stays
- Until you clear your browser's site data. It has no expiry date of its own.
The value is a short list of three true or false answers, one per footer section, for example {"footer-explore":true,"footer-legal":false,"footer-touch":false}. It contains no identifier, no personal data and no information about your visit. It never leaves your device: it is not sent to us or to anyone else, and no part of the website reads it except the footer menu itself.
3. What this website does not use
- No cookies of any kind, first-party or third-party.
- No analytics or statistics tools, and no visitor counting.
- No advertising, retargeting or tracking pixels.
- No social media buttons, embedded videos, maps or other content loaded from other websites.
- No fonts, scripts or images from external services: the fonts are stored on this website, so your browser does not contact a font provider.
- No fingerprinting or other techniques to recognise your device.
Other interactive parts of the website, such as the image viewer, the magnifier on the contact sheet, the season table and the room selector, work entirely in the page and store nothing. When you leave the page, they forget what you did.
4. Why there is no cookie banner
A consent banner is needed when a website wants to store or read information on your device for purposes that are not strictly necessary for something you have asked for. This website has no such purposes. The single item it stores is set only as a direct result of you opening or closing a footer section, and its only job is to keep the menu the way you left it. We consider this strictly necessary to provide the function you chose to use, so no consent is required, and showing a banner would only ask you to approve something that does not exist.
If we ever add anything that would require consent, we will not switch it on until we have asked you, and this page will be updated first.
5. Removing it, or stopping it
You can delete the setting at any time by clearing the site data for this website in your browser settings. In most browsers this is under privacy or site settings, where you can remove the data for a single website. If you browse in a private window, the setting disappears when the window is closed.
If you would rather it were never set, simply leave the footer sections as they are: on small screens they open and close only when you tap them, and nothing is stored before that. On larger screens the footer is always open and nothing is stored at all. The website works fully either way.
6. Server logs
Separately from your browser, the server that hosts this website keeps short technical logs of requests, such as IP address, time and the page requested. These are not cookies and are not stored on your device. How they are used and how long they are kept is explained in the Privacy Policy.
7. Changes and contact
If the way this website uses storage changes, this page will be updated before the change goes live, and the date at the top will show the latest version. Questions about this policy can be sent to [email protected].
